The Topic You Never Learned About in English Class: "It" and "There" as Useless Subjects & Objects

Sometimes - actually a lot of the time - we use "it" as a useless/ dummy subject or object. What does that mean exactly? 🤨

Every English sentence (unless it's an imperative sentence - such as " Go away!") needs a subject. I realized that many non-natives either weren't taught this, or somehow know this rule without really knowing it.

In this case, "it" and "there" are used for grammatical reasons, but don't have any meaning within sentences. Let's look at some examples!
